A retrospective exhibition of Jean Cocteau who played an active part in
art, poem, ballet, theater and cinema in the 20th century. The exhibition
represented the variety of his activity, and was composed of about 280
works of paintings, dessins, sculptures, ceramics, tapestries, photos and
jewelries and so on.
These works were from the Severin Wunderman collection, which is the richest private collection of Jean Cocteau in the world. The exhibition also included the precious book collections that Jean Cocteau gave with his signs and messages to a very popular Japanese poet Horiguchi Daigaku in 1936 when Cocteau visited Japan for the first time. Horiguchi introduced Cocteau’s works in Japan as a translator of his poems and they were very close friends.
