French ceramics at the time of Impressionism 1866-1886
In 1872, a year of Claude Monet painted "Impression, Sunrise",
a French painter Félix Braquemond was appointed as the art manager of the atelier of the manufacture of Haviland and began to create a various number of ceramics of Impressionist style.
The exhibition "French ceramics at the time of Impressionism 1866-1886"
introduces about 160 ceramics, 30 drawings and angravings from the successive
Haviland Collection. Through the exhibition, you can see and study about
the unique ceramics inspired by the Impressionist painters and Japonism
represented by Japanese wood-block print ( ukiyo-e ) by Hokusai, Hiroshige
and others that were very popular inEurope at that time.
